Coenzyme Q10 Antioxidant for Horses
Nano-Q10 is a highly bioavailable form of coenzyme Q10 (CoQ1o), also known as ubiquinone. Nano-Q10 features advanced nanotechnology to create a rapidly available and absorbed source of CoQ1o that has been shown to be 3X more bioavailable than powdered ubiquinone.
CoQ1o is involved in numerous reactions in the body, primarily the aerobic production of energy, and is found in highest concentrations in mitochondria, where its function is to carry protons and electrons, an essential process in the generation of adenosine triphosphate (ATP).
ATP is the main energy currency used by all cells, including muscle cells. CoQ1o is also found in cell membranes, where it boosts cell integrity.
CoQ1o is a powerful antioxidant, protecting cells from highly reactive chemicals called free radicals that can damage cells and their DNA. Besides providing direct antioxidant protection, it also improves the antioxidant potential of other antioxidants in the body, like vitamins C and E.
Studies have shown that horses have lower levels of serum CoQ1o than humans and other animals. Moderate to intense training has been linked with reduced levels of CoQ1o, which can be prevented with regular oral supplementation. Research has shown that Nano-Q10 upregulates mitochondrial enzymes involved in aerobic energy production.
Why use Nano-Q10?
- Horses in moderate to intense training have a higher demand for CoQ1o
- Research proven to be 3X more bioavailable than powdered ubiquinone
- CoQ1o improves efficiency of energy generation via upregulation of mitochondrial enzymes, which may lead to the delayed onset of fatigue
- CoQ1o defends against oxidative stress in muscle cells and protects against exercise-induced muscle damage
- CoQ1o is capable of regenerating other antioxidants such as vitamin C and vitamin E
- CoQ1o defends against oxidative stress in seminal fluid in stallions and the uterus of mares
When to use Nano-Q10
- Performance horses in moderate to intense training for polocrosse, eventing, dressage, endurance, show-jumping, and racehorses
- Breeding stallions and sub-fertile mares
- Horses recovering from illness/injury
- Horses suffering from muscle damage after exercise
- Horses with high GGT or muscle enzyme levels in blood tests
